This is an actual piece of the USS Cochrane DDG21.

The half inch steel plate was certified by International Shipbreaking, Ltd. when it cut apart the ship to recycle the steel for the US Navy. The plate weighs about 2 lbs and is in excellent condition. Very few of these plates exist. They were provided to the US Navy after the recycling effort was completed. Clean with no rust. This is an extremely rare item for someone that wants to really own an extraordinary piece of military history.

If every Cochrane sailor didn't try to outbid each other on this item, I could buy it and give it to John for all his hard work on this wonderful site..

Hope you're doing ok. I think I have a video of all of us walking off the ship a couple of years ago looking like junk collectors. That is a really nice thought, and I agree with you about how much John has done, but I think I recall him walking off the quarter deck with stuff in his hands. I don't know what a 2 lb. piece of plate would do when he probably already has something that means more to a snipe than that. Good thought, though.
