STC John Dell Rice, Chief Rice died of Heart Attack while on WESTPAC in 1972.

I made that cruise and remember that day. The whole ship became quite. We pull into Saigon harbor I believe to drop him off.

He went ashore in Da Nang Harbor.

The ASROC Rover said he saw Chief Rice walk across the ASROC deck that evening, about 15 minutes after he passed away.

I remember coming out of the aft compartment just as they were bringing the chief out of his room and taking him to sick bay.
