The 2 Adams class tied together are USS Cochrane and USS Bejamin Stoddert. The third Adams (USS Buchanan DDG-14)was already at the fitting out pier at NISMF being prepped for her service as a Target during RIMPAC 2000. She had been moored with DDG21 & 22. I was at Pearl in June 2000 with the family and visited NISMF. The guys there where still all keyed up over the filming and all the support they provided.
During the movie you get about a 2 second glimpse of 21 & 22 when Ben Aflecks character heads his P40 over to battleship row. My son thought I was nuts when I cheered the Cochrane at the movie.

Thanks Larry! I thought I was losing it when I saw at least one DDG in the attack. At least Cochrane was able to get one last honor in her official playbook.

Pat, I think I agree with you. For a bunch of old fart middle aged guys to be sitting around talking about a boat we were on 35 years ago, and shedding a whole lot of tears and emotions about "a bunch of metal" is more than just crazy. I think that everyone of us, regardless of when we were on her, owe our lives at one time or another to that ship. She became our "earth mother", our contact between disaster and life. When we were being thrown around between two typhoons at one time, it was Cochrane that stormed the seas, not us. For those of you who were aboardd when those very scary shots were made at you, it was the Cochrane that dodged those shots. I think that is why we all feel as we do towards her.
